Join Us for the Premiere of Where Do Black Men Live?
We are proud to announce the premiere of our new short film, Where Do Black Men Live?, a short film depicting the lived experiences of Black men navigating housing insecurity in Cambridge, MA. The screening will take place at The Foundry, located at 101 Rogers Street in Cambridge, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Following the film, we will host a panel discussion featuring a distinguished lineup of speakers:
Professor Chenjerai Kumanyika of New York University, a cultural historian and media scholar whose work examines the role of narrative in shaping perceptions of race and justice.
Professor Sandra Susan Smith of Harvard University, a leading sociologist whose research focuses on urban inequality, incarceration, and pathways to social mobility.
Professor Spencer Piston of Boston University, a political scientist who studies race, class, and the public’s relationship to policing and political power.
Emmanuel Okeke, an actor in Where Do Black Men Live?, whose performance draws from personal and community insight to bring these stories to life.
This event is supported through financial and in-kind sponsorship from Massachusetts Cultural Council, SURJ Boston, Cambridge Residents Alliance, NAACP Mystic Valley, and Borealis Philanthropy’s Black-Led Movement Fund and Communities Transforming Policing Fund. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Children are welcomed! There will be a childcare space and child carers will be available. Cambridge Community Television (CCTV) will be recording the panel discussion.
