Know-Your-rights with the ACLU of Massachusetts

  • Cambridge Community Center 5 Callender Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 United States (map)

On Thursday April 17 from 6-8pm, TBR is partnering with the Spot and the ACLU of Massachusetts to do a know-your-rights workshop focused on the concerns of migrant residents. Our ACLU representative is lawyer Javier Luengo-Garrido.

This event will provide essential information on key issues, including temporary protected status (TPS) changes, REAL ID requirements, and what to do if ICE and DEA agents come to your door. We will have handouts of warrant templates and other tools for folks to take home. The workshop will be presented in Spanish, with Haitian creole interpretation available to ensure accessibility for up 25 attendees.

In addition to the workshop, we will be distributing mutual aid supplies for families. Attendees will also be provided with a special dinner of Haitian food made by Stephanie’s mom, Mamaille. There will also be a children’s space with activities and snacks will be available to accommodate families. While the event is being promoted primarily to Spanish and Haitian Creole speakers, we welcome English-speaking volunteers to assist with setup and childcare.

This event is free and open to the public. If you wish to volunteer or learn more, please contact us at general@theblackresponsecambridge.com.
